What's the difference between a tonne bag and a tipper load?
A tonne bag is a vented builders bag, 80 by 80 by 80 centimetres, holding roughly 180 logs. We set it down as close to your log store as the truck can get. It stays with you between orders and goes back to us on your next delivery. In a smaller stove, it gives you roughly four to six weeks of evening fires.
A tipper load is tipped loose from the back of the truck, wherever it can reach, roughly four tonne bags' worth of wood. In a typical wood burner, that's enough to see you through the season.
Where does your wood come from?
All of our wood comes from locally managed woodland, the more local the better, for the journey to our yard and for the environment. Much of our recent timber has been cut down because of the spread of ash dieback disease, and we also source timber from local estates, where thinning helps woodland health and biodiversity.
Every log we sell can be traced back to woodland nearby. We never repackage wholesale wood, and we never import any of it. It's British hardwood, mostly ash, with some beech and oak coming through too.
How dry are your logs?
Our logs are air dried under cover at our yard, with plenty of air moving through them. We check our stock all year round to keep the moisture left in the wood under 20%, and every batch is tested before it's bagged. What you get is ready to burn.
Do you sell kiln dried logs?
Yes, and we deliver kiln dried logs in Billingshurst and across our local area. They're dried to order, so just mention it when you order.
What's the smallest order I can place?
The smallest order is a single tonne bag or a tipper load. For anything larger, or for a trade order, give us a call.
Can I add kindling or log nets?
Kindling nets are kiln dried softwood, and log nets are kiln dried hardwood. Add either to a tonne bag or tipper load going to the same address and there's no minimum, even one net is fine. Order them on their own, without a bag or tipper load, and the minimum is 20 kindling nets or 20 log nets.
Do you deliver, and what does it cost?
We deliver every day. If you're having logs delivered in Horsham or elsewhere in our local area, it's free, whatever the size of your order. Further out, we quote based on your postcode.
When will my delivery arrive?
For orders from stock, most weeks your delivery goes out the same week you order. We confirm the day when you book, so you'll always know which day to expect us.
What if I'm not in, or my address is hard to reach?
If you won't be in, just tell us where you'd like your order left, somewhere covered if possible, and we'll set it down there.
If your address is tricky to get to, tell us in advance, for example a terraced street with cars parked across the drive, or a neighbour's car that might need moving. We'll flag your delivery and call ahead so you have time to prepare. Most country lanes are fine. It's usually parked cars in town that cause the delay.
