How much firewood do I need for winter?

If you are about to order and are not sure how much to get, it depends on how you burn. We have Logs for Sale in two sizes, a tonne bag or a tipper load, both split, seasoned British hardwood, cut, split and dried at our own yard in Wisborough Green, run by five friends, none of it repackaged wholesale wood or imported. Delivery is free within our local area on either size, and outside that we quote based on your postcode. You can see how that works on our Log Delivery page. If you would rather just ask, contact us and tell us about your stove. Otherwise, here is roughly what each size gives you.
What each size gives you
- A tonne bag: a vented builders bag measuring 80 by 80 by 80 centimetres, holding roughly 180 logs, mostly ash with some beech and oak too. The bag stays with you between orders and comes back to us on your next delivery. In a smaller stove, it is usually good for four to six weeks of evening fires.
- A tipper load: comes off the back of the truck in one go, roughly four tonne bags at a time, tipped wherever the truck can reach. In a typical wood burner, it is enough to see you through the season, and it is the cheapest way to fill your store before winter properly sets in.
Choosing between them
How much you need depends on how you burn, so there is no single figure that fits every household. Both sizes above are the smallest orders we take. For anything larger, or a trade order, give us a call. If you are still not sure, get in touch and tell us about your stove, and we will help you work it out. We're open every day, 8 till 6.
Seasoned or kiln dried, both under 20% moisture
Seasoned logs, air dried under cover at our yard, are our main stock. Kiln dried logs are dried to order, so just mention it when you order. Either way, it's kept under 20% moisture, the same standard whichever size you choose, and every batch is tested before it's bagged, so what you order is ready to burn. It's the wood we would happily burn ourselves.

We deliver every day, from our own truck out of our own yard, no couriers, no pallet wrap, and most weeks that's the same week you order, with your delivery day confirmed when you book.
Once your order is confirmed, you can pay online from the link we send, on the day, or by invoice, whichever suits you best.
